Google Launches New Pixel 9 Lineup at Made by Google 2024 Event

During the recent Made by Google 2024 event, Google unveiled its latest lineup of smartphones, the Pixel 9 series. This new lineup includes the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, with the addition of the Pixel 9 Fold Pro. These devices come with a range of new features and upgrades that set them apart from their predecessors.

One of the notable changes in the Pixel 9 lineup is the improvement in display quality. The Pixel 9 Pro now features a 6.3-inch display with a higher resolution of 1280 x 2856, compared to the base Pixel’s resolution of 1080 x 2424. Additionally, the new Pro XL model offers a larger 6.8-inch display with a resolution of 1344 x 2992 pixels. These displays are 35% brighter than previous models and are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, ensuring durability and clarity.

Google has introduced a new AI assistant called Gemini, which replaces the traditional Google Assistant on the Pixel 9 devices. Users can now assign the Power button to trigger Gemini, offering a more interactive and personalized experience. However, if users prefer the old Google Assistant, they have the option to switch back to it. This move reflects Google’s commitment to integrating AI technology into its products and services.

The Pixel 9 lineup also brings significant upgrades to the camera capabilities of the devices. The base Pixel 9 features a dual rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel wide camera and an 8x Super Res Zoom, along with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens. In contrast, both the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL come with a triple camera setup, including a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and up to 30x Super Res Zoom. Moreover, the Pros boast 42-megapixel selfie cameras, ensuring high-quality photos and videos.

Google has equipped the Pixel 9 series with the new Tensor G4 chip and Titan M2 security chip, providing enhanced performance and security features. The devices come with varying RAM and storage options, with the base Pixel 9 offering 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, while the Pro models come with 16GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB. The devices are powered by large batteries, with the 6.3-inch models sporting a 4700 mAh battery, and the XL model featuring a 5060 mAh battery. Google claims that all three devices can provide up to 24 hours of usage on a single charge, with the option to extend battery life with Extreme Battery Saver mode.

The Pixel 9 series is priced competitively, with the Pixel 9 starting at $799, the Pixel 9 Pro at $999, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL at $1,099. Preorders for the devices opened shortly after the event, and the Pixel 9 and Pro XL are expected to ship on August 22, while the release date for the Pro model is yet to be announced. Additionally, all three devices come with a year of the Google One AI Premium plan, providing advanced access to Gemini features and 2TB of Google Cloud storage.

Google’s latest Pixel 9 lineup represents a significant step forward in terms of design, features, and performance. With improved displays, enhanced camera capabilities, powerful hardware, and innovative software updates, these devices offer a compelling option for consumers looking for a premium smartphone experience.
